Mid-Facelift

Conveniently Located to Serve Boston, Beverly and New York City.

The midface is the area between the lower eyelids to the nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth. Over time, the midface area descends and loses volume (flattens). This can make us appear more tired or older than we are.

Round facial contours and prominent cheekbones characteristics of youth and beauty. A midface lift can beautifully restore the youthful contour and three-dimensional projection to the midface area that so many patients desire.

Mid-Face Lift Procedure types

  • Transconjunctival / subperiosteal approach. This is the procedure of choice when performing at the same time lower eyelid surgery. Incision is performed without cutting the skin and the midface is lifted by mobilizing the entire midface, not just skin. Recovery ranges between 10 days to 2 weeks. This is an excellent approach for placement of a malar or infraorbital implant to eliminate tear trough deformity.
  • SOOF Lift. Through a small skin incision at the corner of the eyelids the SOOF  flap (Sub-Orbicularis Oculi Flap) is elevated and excess skin of the lower lids is trimmed. This procedure is commonly combined with lower lid blepharoplasty. Candidates for this procedure are individuals with loss of cheekbone volume, tear trough deformity and prominent nasolabial folds.
  • Endoscopic midface lift. Small incisions are made in the temple area of the head above the hairline and an endoscope is used to create channels and attachment points for dissolvable fixation devices to  elevate the cheek pad and reduce the appearance of the nasolabial fold.
This procedure is usually performed in conjunction with an endoscopic browlift, but can be performed by itself if no brow elevation is needed.
  • Thread Lift is still an option for patients that do not want to have invasive surgery. The procedure is still available using sutures with ability to pull up the tissue. It is performed through small incisions in the hairline under local anesthesia. Recovery time is about 1 -2 weeks.

Dr. Glavas will explain in detail which options are best for you and why. If you are considering facial enhancement, a midface lift may be an excellent option for you.

A Midface Lift does not address the eyelids or sagging eyebrow or forehead area. For information about these areas please see BLEPHAROPLASTY and BROW / FOREHEAD Lifting.
